Update

Well Fat Man has done another 100k or so and just cycled past Waiouru on his virtual ride.

Waiouru is an army base and museum where some xxxtards have just stolen some of New Zealand's irreplaceable war medals including several VCs.

On the crime scale this rates as low as you can get.  These men died for their country, their friends, their beliefs.  I guess that is something that those stealing these medals (and paying for them) don't really think or even care about.  Sometimes I wish we lived in a country where the punishment truly fitted the crime.

I hope they find the scumbags who did this and who paid for it to be done.  Above all else I hope they retrieve the medals.  My grandfather and father fought in World Wars - I presume the only fight these thieves have been in was in a local pub - damn them all...

Sorry about my raving but this crime has really stunned us here in New Zealand, or at least stunned those who care....

We did it!!

Well we did it - Fat Man and his friend (not so Fat Man - Ashley) did the Taupo 170k (100 miles) Challenge in just over 7 hours, shaving a whole 40 minutes off of Fat Man's previous best time.

Now Fat Man must start cycling in a straight line on his virtual ride, or he will never get to Bluff in time...so I am straight off to Wellington...

Update
Well the Fat Man's Virtual ride has got him to Taupo, which is good as he needs to be there on Saturday for the big real ride (160k/100 miles).  Third time around (we hope) the Lake for the Fat Man and this time he is riding with Ashley (the littler Fat Man) so he will be in good company...

Update
Well a leap forward as I haven't updated for a while and have been cycling hard.  The circle around Rotorua on the virtual bike ride map is a real one as I completed the Round the Lake ride (twice around actually) on November 4th.  Now I have to make a slight virtual diversion so I get to Taupo on the 23rd for the real ride around an even bigger lake!!

Update
Well it's the New Year and I have finally got back on my bike this week so let's hope I can keep going as it's a long way to Bluff (South Island)

Weeks update
Not much cycling for the last two weeks since Taupo as a few other things have intervened.  Had a great barbeque at the weekend at a cycling friends but depressed by all the fit young cyclists present.  Memo to me: GET ON YER BIKE

Fat Man cycles Taupo!!
Well I did it - 160K (100 miles) around Lake Taupo in less time than last year and that brings my mileage up by 300k in the last 10 days - so the map needs updating!

Cycling Update
Only 2 weeks to go now to Taupo and I am getting heavier as I grow a moustache for Movember.  Cycled around 100k this week which is not nearly enough..

Here we go again
Cobwebs have been cleared off the bike and Fat Man restarted his ride (for the third time) on 1st November. The winter proved too much as the skiiing was great and the bike got left in the garage!  With the "real" ride at Taupo (160k/100 miles) only three weeks away, I need to get moving ..
